"A flower, a wish." Participatory floral action

For the fourteenth consecutive year, now established as a festive tradition in the city following the success of recent editions, Amics de La Rambla invites Barcelonans and visitors to participate in "One Flower, One Wish," a participatory project in which flowers and La Rambla de les Flors are the absolute stars.

Every year, La Rambla celebrates the feast of its patron saint, Our Lady of the Rosary. Her image is found in the external space of the Virreina, and it was tradition for the La Rambla Florists' collective to dedicate an offering to her. Continuing this tradition, and based on an idea by graphic designer Claret Serrahima, the School of Floral Art and Garden Design of Catalonia designed a floral initiative for citizens and visitors to the city to participate actively by presenting a flower, under the slogan: "One Flower, One Wish."

Based on Claret Serrahima's idea, the School of Floral Art and Garden Design of Catalonia asked the company Pont de Querós, specialized in willow architecture and led by Master Basketmaker Joan Farré, to build a 4 m tall x 1.5 m wide basket stand, woven with wicker at the base and mouth, in order to keep the central part open with chicken wire, so that the flowers can be placed there.

Since the event celebrates the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, the flowers placed there will be 4,000 roses, which Amics de La Rambla distributes among the attending public.

This celebration is unique in uniting tradition with new artistic and cultural trends-from the craft of basketry to floral art-creating a unique artistic piece and turning the offering to Our Lady of the Rosary into an act of civic participation. This initiative is possible thanks to the involvement of individuals, organizations, schools, and companies, whose collaboration brings the city a new way to understand a floral offering.
