Ara Malikian at the Gran Teatre del Liceu

Now Malikian presents at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona on December 11th his new tour Intruder, a very personal journey where he starts from the anguish of not fitting in anywhere to finally embrace the richness of his multicultural identity and find his home throughout the world through art and music.

In Lebanon, they did not consider me "Lebanese" enough because I was of Armenian origin, Armenians did not consider me "Armenian" enough because I was born in Lebanon, and when I settled in Europe they did not consider me "European" because I was not born there.

This experience was also reflected in my relationship with music. Every note resonated with the nostalgia of a home that did not exist, a place where I didn't quite fit in.

However, this condition of being an "intruder" gave me the opportunity to explore and enjoy fascinating music and cultures, alien to my own tradition, bringing my own voice, my multicultural experience to them.

Thanks to my condition as an "intruder," I have discovered that the whole world is my home. My home is in my body and in my soul, an infinite space where identity transforms and music becomes a universal language.
