Exhibitions

Sala Parés presents the new individual exhibition of the artist Albert Vidal (Barcelona, 1969), in which he proposes a journey between Barcelona and Paris, through his landscapes, with some pauses to contemplate the sea and some corners of North Africa.

Albert Vidal's work is a magnificent example of the relevance of landscape in contemporary painting. He especially deals with urban landscapes, which he often represents through aerial views where the rational structure of the buildings and urban fabric can be appreciated. In some cases, he also depicts the destruction caused by war, interpreting past bombings of some German and Japanese cities with his modern language. He also works on seascapes or desert landscapes where the lack of figurative elements and his expressive and vital style seem to want to bring us closer to abstraction.

The artist gives great prominence to structural elements and composition. He usually blurs some areas of his paintings and even leaves some parts of the support visible, where occasionally there are imprints of newspapers, propaganda, or other elements that, together with his peculiar way of signing the works?with a numerical code?create an interesting contrast between the analog and the digital. Sometimes he complements the subtle materiality of his painting with assemblage, a technique that allows him to create different textural and chromatic qualities.

Albert Vidal's career has led him to receive awards in numerous competitions and exhibit in different cities throughout Spain, as well as in France, Japan, Switzerland, and the United States. In Barcelona, he has been exhibiting at Sala Parés since 2001 and has carried out some installations in public spaces.

It can be visited free of charge from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm
