ÍNDEX BLAU presents blue as a cultural structure and an archive of memory. The vast blue of the Mediterranean appears here as a shared cultural root: a common territory where the light, domestic architecture, vegetation, and certain ways of inhabiting time have built a recognizable sensibility between Andalusia and Catalonia.
Through courtyards, interiors, and transitional spaces, the exhibition constructs a Mediterranean imaginary linked to the idea of the root not as nostalgia, but as a conscious return. A return to that which endures. To calmness, to reflection, and to a slower way of seeing in the face of the contemporary acceleration of images and cultural homogenization.
The works engage in dialogue with the Mediterranean pictorial tradition from a contemporary perspective, reinterpreting certain visual codes from the present. Blue functions here as the dominant pictorial material and as a symbol of permanence, pause, and cultural identity.
The exhibition understands painting as a space for perceptual deceleration. The courtyard thus ceases to be merely an iconographic motif to become a structure of thought: an intermediate place between memory and future.
We ask ourselves who we have been, who we are, and who we want to be.
Because the future is something very ancient.
Because the essential does not change.
Because blue is in no hurry.
Open to visitors from Tuesday to Saturday: 11:00 am - 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
