Exhibitions

The exhibition "Breaking Ships, Breaking Lives", which can be seen at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona from February 21 to November 30, 2025, aims to raise awareness of what is considered one of the most dangerous professions in the world, the so-called "beaching" or shipbreaking, which is carried out directly on beaches.

Shipbreaking in Europe is expensive due to strict regulations, so many shipowners seek alternative, more economical regions. In Southeast Asia, there are various places where this activity is carried out at a lower cost and with fewer legal requirements.

In this exhibition, we will learn about the lives of people who work in these facilities and the harsh working conditions they face day after day. A business for some, and an extremely precarious way of life and job for many others.

It can be visited from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
