The Sala Parés presents the new individual exhibition by Carlos Morago (Madrid, 1954).
Carlos Morago's work portrays empty and austere spaces, serene and balanced, illuminated with a soft and clear light which allows him to explore a rich range of grays and whites that are the most present colors in his palette. He constructs scenes of great lyrical force, imbued with an enigmatic, almost metaphysical atmosphere. He creates uninhabited and silent spaces where he demonstrates that he is the master of absences.
The artist shows a great interest in interior spaces. Sometimes, these are observed through partially open doors or windows that, despite this, remain almost completely hidden, playing with suspense and creating disturbing images. In others, they open to panoramic views of cities, or offer glimpses of inner gardens and courtyards, where some vegetal elements, admirably depicted, provide a contrast that creates a splendid harmony of colors and shapes.
His still lifes are extremely poetic. He paints especially flowers and plants, but also ceramics and other solitary elements that stand out for their vitality and chromaticism against backgrounds that invade much of the composition.
Carlos Morago has exhibited at Sala Parés since 2009. His work has been presented on several occasions in France, Germany, England, Mexico, and Belgium, as well as in Madrid and other Spanish cities. He has received numerous awards and is a Corresponding Academician of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Santa Isabel of Hungary.
