Conferences at the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona

Next May 29 at 6 p.m., scientific conferences by Dr. Jesús Maria Sanz-Serna and Dr. Miguel Belló, corresponding academics of the Mathematics and Astronomy section of the RACAB, will take place at the Auditorium of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona.

"Space Risks and Planetary Protection Systems" by the corresponding academic Mr. Miguel Belló Mora (1st Section of Mathematics and Astronomy. President of Orbital Express Limited (Orbex))

"The objective of the presentation is to show the risks that arise from space, both those generated by human activity such as space debris, and those naturally derived from the possible collision of a celestial body (asteroid or comet) with Earth or solar storms. The conference will also briefly introduce planetary protection systems being developed to mitigate these risks."

"In relatively few years, the word "algorithm," formerly very infrequent, has become increasingly common, undoubtedly due to the enormous social impact of innovations based on combining mathematical algorithms with increasingly powerful computers. In the talk, aimed at a non-mathematical audience, I will try to show the remarkable effectiveness of some simple algorithms when there is great computing power available."
