The exhibition presents ten poster proposals created by artists with intellectual disabilities from ACUDAM, Bogatell Occupational Center, Condal Occupational Center, Ave Maria Foundation, and TEAS Foundation.
The works were developed as part of the sixth edition of Magistrals, the artistic training project of the Setba Foundation for organizations in the disability sector, which this year was led by the illustrator and cartoonist Lluïsot.
The exhibition is the result of a professional commission from Amics de La Rambla to the Setba Foundation, within the framework of the «La Rambla Poster» campaign, to create a new tourist poster inspired by the renewed Rambla de Santa Mònica. Previous posters were done by Reskate Studio and Jordi Ferràndiz - Bestiola.
With this commission, Amics de La Rambla has placed its trust in the excellence, vision, and creative ability of the artists participating in the Magistrals project.
«Posters of La Rambla» advocates for a model of tourist souvenir created locally, rooted in the identity of Barcelona, with artistic and social value.
During the creative process, Amics de La Rambla introduced the participating artists to the history, heritage, and current reality of this emblematic promenade. Based on the observation of the Rambla de Santa Mònica, the artists reinterpreted its spaces, buildings, and symbols through urban drawing, composition, and color.
David Padín, author of the winning poster
The proposal by David Padín, an artist from the Condal Occupational Center, was chosen as the winning poster of the «La Rambla Poster» campaign.
The jury was composed of Xavi Masip, manager of Amics de La Rambla; Santi Sallés, urban sketcher, illustrator, and graphic designer; and Cristina Sampere, artist and director of the Setba Foundation.
Artists prepared to take on top-level commissions
For the Setba Foundation, this collaboration should serve as a precedent and help to generate new professional opportunities for artists with intellectual disabilities.
The Foundation calls on administrations, companies, and cultural institutions to include these artists in their commissions, competitions, and programs, and for their proposals to be valued for their quality, uniqueness, and communicative power.
In this sense, the Setba Foundation defends that an artist with intellectual disabilities can take on a high-visibility cultural and institutional commission, such as creating the poster for La Mercè.
The exhibition «Magistrals Posters of La Rambla» will allow visitors to see both the winning proposal by David Padín and the posters created by the other participating artists.
The exhibition will open on September 21st at 12 pm at the Mirador de Colom, and can be visited free of charge until December 13th, 2026.
