Festivals

El Raval already has everything ready for the most anticipated party of the year to begin. From Thursday, July 9 to Sunday, July 12, we will be able to enjoy a program full of all kinds of activities that invite us to fill the neighborhood's streets.

The festivities will kick off on Thursday, the 9th, from 7:30 p.m., with the traditional evening of the opening speech and parades. Plaça Vicenç Martorell will be the stage where the Raval Choral Society and the giants will arrive in procession, and then the Festa Major Opening Speech will take place. This year, the speaker will be Lamine Sarr, with the collaboration of Juan Vaello "El Pintao". Afterwards, there will be a concert and dance by the School of Musicians and JPC.

The next day, Friday, the festivities will start with the Contracursa and the Sports Morning on the Rambla del Raval and a Children's Sports Morning at the Jardins de les Voltes d'en Cirés. In the afternoon, at Plaça Pedró, the Gypsy Party organized by the Carabutsí Association will take place, which will also continue on Saturday and Sunday.

The Rubió i Lluch Gardens will host a Community Day organized by the Rubió i Lluch, Gardunya and Fleming Community Table. Starting at 7:00 p.m., there will be several concerts and a popular dinner open to everyone. At Plaça Castella, the Filipino party Oyayi will take place, with concerts from Filipino-origin bands.

The Neighborhood Party

Neighbourhood dinners in the streets continue to play a key role in the celebration. Thus, on Friday at Jardins de les Voltes d'en Cirés there will be the 12th Festa Major Popular Dinner; on Saturday, a friendship dinner with packed meals at Plaça Salvador Seguí; and finally on Sunday the 12th there will be a Pakistani cuisine showcase at popular prices at Plaça Folch i Torres.

As expected, traditional and popular cultural events will once again take center stage in this edition. On Saturday the 11th in the afternoon, at 5:00 p.m., we can enjoy a joint parade of giants and stick dancers, which will link up with the castellera (human tower) day. The parade of giants, the stick dancing day, and the castellera will converge at Plaça de la Gardunya where from 9:30 p.m. there will be a popular dinner.

The Tabalada (drumming parade) and correfoc (fire run) will be the culminating act of the Festa Major with a route that will wind through the neighborhood's streets. Before that, at 7:30 p.m. in Plaça de Sant Agustí, there will be the traditional havaneres singing and burned rum for everyone.

Throughout the four days of Festa Major, everyone will be able to enjoy the many activities that the organizations and associations have organized for both young and old.
