Journey Through Time at the Royal Shipyards of Barcelona

This year, 2026, Barcelona has been named World Capital of Architecture. Within the framework of this event, we present this exhibition to recall the origin and history of one of the city's most emblematic buildings. The Royal Shipyards are internationally recognized for their monumentality and their excellent state of preservation, and in 1976 they were declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument.

Their origin dates back to the 13th century, during the reign of Peter the Great. Over the following centuries, they were gradually expanded and modified until reaching the shape we know today. The exhibition explores the different moments and uses of this complex, considered the largest and most complete medieval shipyards still preserved in the world, and a unique example of civil Gothic architecture.
