Cubana. 45 years playing theater is a journey that shows part of all the baggage that the members of the group have accumulated over these years, to know who they are, know where they come from and grasp the reason for it all. La Cubana is a theater company born in Sitges in 1980, well known in Catalonia as well as in the rest of the country for its shows, and also for having carried out their theatrical activity experimenting in all kinds of non-theatrical spaces, such as the streets, shop windows, markets, public transport, and, of course, inside theaters, playing and always "turning them over". With their shows, they organize long seasons and extensive tours throughout the country, and, thanks to the audience that has followed them, they have already been seen by more than six million viewers today.
Although it is a clearly amateur theater company, since becoming professional in 1983 with Cubana's Delikatessen, as a company they have retained their original artisan way of working from their origins.
They always practice a theater based on observation, in order to then be able to recreate on stage the theatrical situations that we all experience in our daily lives and that generally go unnoticed as theater. That is why, based on humor, costumbrist comedy, in all their shows the same constants are always repeated, such as transgression, surprise, audience participation, and above all, play as a theatrical expression.
The exhibition is free and open to the public.
