La Mercè 2026: The popular procession at the Palau de la Virreina

At the Palau de la Virreina, you will find on display —as always, if you want to see them in detail— the festive imaginative elements that are part of Barcelona's Seguici Popular: the Eagle, the Lion, the Mulassa, the Ox, the Víbria, the Dragon, the Tarasca, the Cavallets Cotoners, and the Giants of the City, Pi, and Santa Maria del Mar. They originated from ancient interludes, but have ended up becoming part of popular and traditional culture and are essential in the city's celebrations and major events.

The Seguici Popular of Barcelona was established in 1993 as a showcase of the city's historical and cultural heritage. It has specific protocols for the different forms and manifestations, and even has its own dances and music.
