An old, absent-minded, grumpy and very talkative father, concerned about his nativity scene and his morning coffee. A dedicated mother, halfway between the Italian mamma and the mistress consumed by effort and suffering. A brother of the father, who lives with them and is single, a lottery fanatic and bank employee, embittered and constantly angry. A son who still lives at home and is already an adult but does not want to be. Pampered by the mother, he pretends to be foolish, or maybe he really is a bit dim and steals everything he finds. The daughter is an independent young woman who has been married to an older industrialist, bored, jealous, and pompous, with a lot of money. There is also a friend of the son, a gallant and shy young man, who maintains a love affair with the family's daughter, who plans to run away with him and leave her husband...
