On Thursday, March 12 at 11 a.m. we invite you to the route "Barcelona in Flames: La Rambla".
Manuel has slipped into the firefighters' archives and now offers us an unprecedented route along La Rambla and its surroundings. We will discover how, throughout contemporary history, fires have affected the central and iconic buildings of our city. Seeing an icon burn attracts attention, and this has been documented by headlines… and urban legends!
We will analyze major fires (and some less known ones): how the press photographed them, how the firefighters extinguished them, whether the origin was known, what consequences they had, how widely they were reported, and what rumors were sparked!
