On Saturday, April 4 at 5 p.m. we invite you to the tour "La Rambla, a Journey Through Time".

A walk where visitors discover the evolution of this iconic street through a journey in time that covers some of the most prominent periods, allowing one to discover the evolution of this emblematic street. The heartbeat of La Rambla and its transformation, from a simple stream to the most walked on and sought after space in the world.

Originally a river valley, La Rambla went from being the natural route for traffic and communication-originating in an old riverbed-to becoming an important road during the Roman era, with archaeological remains that testify to the life of the city of Barcino.

During the medieval centuries, it consolidated as a commercial and social hub, with the creation of markets and the movement of artisans or peasants, basket makers, potters and also the creation of iconic spaces.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, La Rambla became a cultural center with the birth of theaters and the arrival of the royal court in Barcelona. From a wall to five gates such as Trentaclaus, the most recent one discovered during current construction works on La Rambla.

With industrialization and the growth of tourism in the 19th century, La Rambla continued transforming in line with European and American trends, becoming a place for commerce and entertainment. In the 20th century, despite social conflicts, new cultural spaces fostered its revitalization.

This other captivating perspective offers a surprising and panoramic vision through time of this very special and iconic street, which stands as a living witness, reflecting the changes in the city of Barcelona over time.
