During the four years of conflict, the city witnessed the obscene display of wealth by a few people in stark contrast to the extreme poverty of the working population, a tension that exploded during a dark six-year period. The book El Pistolerisme a Barcelona (1917-1923). Laberint de sang i plom, by journalists Jesús Martínez and David Revelles, portrays this fascinating and ruthless city. That's why, from the pages of the book, we'll take a journey through time on a tour of the city led by David Revelles, which will reveal to us a Barcelona turned into a real Babylon. Because, although the war fronts were thousands of kilometers away, Barcelona was a land of spies, where killings took place and smugglers made their fortune. Not to mention the apaches and luxury brothels of the Barri Xino, the anarchist gunmen and employer hitmen killing each other, the "sometent" militias' weapons in the streets and the tango danced in the cabarets, the cocaine and French champagne that enlivened those endless nights...
