Saint Joseph Oriol Festival 2025

From March 15th to 23rd, the Pi neighborhood will celebrate the Festes de Sant Josep Oriol.

The Festes de Sant Josep Oriol are celebrated in honor of this Barcelonan saint, who was born and lived in Ciutat Vella in the 17th century, and are characterized by some unique activities: the Robber Arraignment of Perot the thief, who was a neighbor of the neighborhood; the Altarpiece of Sant Josep Oriol; the Emulation; Bestieses; the Oriols' Walk; and the popular chocolate coins, which recall one of the saint's miracles.

Saturday 15th

BELL-RINGING TO BEGIN THE FESTIVITIES

10:30 a.m. Plaça del Pi

Announcement of the start of the Festes with the ringing of bells by the Campaners del Pi.

OPENING PRAYER OF THE FESTIVITIES

11:00 a.m. Plaça del Pi

By Mr. Miquel Àngel Gelabert, neighbor and former merchant of the neighborhood.

REMEMBRANCE OF THE MIRACLE OF THE COINS OF SANT JOSEP ORIOL

We will remember one of the most fun and well-known miracles of Sant Josep Oriol.

THE CALL OF THE MESSENGER

With the characters from the Altarpiece of Sant Josep Oriol, announcing the performance that will take place in the evening.

DANCE OF THE FOUR ORIGINAL GIANTS OF THE PI

Mustafà, Elisenda, Oriol, and Laia will perform their traditional dance accompanied by the

Grallers del Pi.

FESTIVAL OPENING FIREWORKS

A fireworks display, from the bell tower of Santa Maria del Pi, inviting everyone to the party. By Pirotècnia Estalella.

Sacred drama performed by hundreds of people who, on stage and behind the curtains, make this spectacular work possible. The original small Giants of the Pi and the Mulassa de Barcelona will participate.
