St. George

On April 23, the Barcelona Erotic Museum (MEB) joins the celebration of Sant Jordi with an erotic and sensual literary proposal: an Open Mic of erotic literature in the museum's garden, open to all visitors.

"During the day, attendees will be able to read aloud excerpts of erotic literature selected from the books that the museum will specially provide for the occasion," explains Sarah Rippert, director of the MEB. "In addition, we will announce the winner of our erotic stories contest," Rippert states.

"The intimate and welcoming environment of our Erotic Garden offers the perfect stage for sharing words that speak of desire and love on such an important day as Sant Jordi," adds Sigrid Cervera, the sexologist in charge of the Education Department of the MEB, from which the activity is organized.

Tribute to Sappho of Lesbos and commemoration of Lesbian Visibility Day

This year, the Sant Jordi event pays special tribute to Sappho of Lesbos, one of the most emblematic figures of love poetry since ancient times. Born on the Greek island of Lesbos in the 7th century BC, Sappho is known for her delicate and passionate poetry, a unique expression of female homoeroticism in literature. Her work has been celebrated for centuries for its emotional intensity, lyrical beauty, and deeply human vision of female love and erotica.

This reading is also part of the commemoration of Lesbian Visibility Day, celebrated every April 26 since 2008, with the aim of giving voice and presence to lesbian women in all areas of public and cultural life.

Erotic stories contest

Furthermore, on the occasion of this Sant Jordi 2025, the museum has launched its first Erotic Stories Contest, open to all individuals who wish to explore the written word as a means of expression. The name of the winning story will be announced on April 23 during the event, and the text will be read live during the celebration.

Stories can be submitted until April 20 to the email office@erotica-museum.com. The winner will become a Friend of the MEB, which includes, among other benefits, free entry to the museum and special discounts for friends.

A different Sant Jordi

With its proposal, the Barcelona Erotic Museum invites you to experience a different Sant Jordi, celebrating love, desire, and diversity through literature. Because few things are more subversive and pleasurable than reading aloud what others dare not whisper.

The reading will take place between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm. At the end, the name of the winner of the erotic stories contest will be shared.
