The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, originally published in English in 1843, tells the story of a miserly, selfish man with seemingly irreversible scars (Mr. Ebenezer Scrooge) and his conversion after a series of visits from ghosts on Christmas Eve. Written during the Victorian era with a nostalgic sense towards the past, Christmas, and the values of coming together against greed, it became extremely popular.
With the aim of showcasing the nuances of this masterful Dickens text, Albert Guinovart offers us a beautiful, sensitive, and contrasting score. Music at the service of the words that vividly depict all the characters in the narrative. Enhancing the musical action, the sand drawings by Borja González add an even more poetic touch. On a handcrafted light table in total synchrony with the music and text, he shapes the illustration with sand to evoke the various scenes and characters of the narrative. VEUS - Amics de la Unió Children's Choir, along with the Gran Teatre del Liceu Orchestra, presents a classic Christmas performance: art, delicacy, and precision!
