The Museu de l'Eròtica de Barcelona (MEB) presents its special program for Women's Month 2026, entitled "Female Desire: History, Art, Body and Age," a cultural proposal analyzing how the female body has been constructed, represented, and transformed from the 19th century to the present. Thus, the MEB strengthens its role as a dynamic and participatory museum.

Within the framework of March 8, the museum offers a transversal itinerary connecting art history, contemporary reinterpretation, sexology, and performance experience. The premise is clear: the female body is not a fixed image, but a cultural construction crossed by moral norms, artistic representations, and personal experiences.

"Women's Month at the MEB is not a circumstantial program, but a declaration of cultural positioning. The MEB approaches eroticism with historical rigor and an educational dimension," says Sarah Rippert, director of the MEB.

For her part, Sigrid Cervera, sexologist and head of the Department of Education and Cultural Mediation at the museum, emphasizes: "To talk about female desire is to talk about history, but also about personal lives. The body is not just representation: it is awareness, transformation, and experience."

From the Corset to the Scandal   March 9: 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm (by reservation only)

The program opens with a guided tour by sexologist Sigrid Cervera focused on the 19th century and the early decades of the 20th, a key moment in the construction of modern femininity.

The visit addresses bourgeois double standards, from the corset as a physical and symbolic device to the production of clandestine erotic photography and Parisian risqué photography. It's a journey through the birth of modern femininity and an invitation to reflect on its current echoes.

Drawing Desire March 18: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm (included with museum admission)

The Barcelonik collective, organized by illustrator Xavi Julià, will host a live illustration session in the museum's galleries.

Ten sketchers will reinterpret the female body and its historical representation from a contemporary perspective through watercolor and drawing, activating the museum space as a creative laboratory. Museum visitors will be able to enjoy these artists' work live while touring the MEB exhibition.

Menopause and Desire. Ritual of Transformation March 26: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (Limited to 15 participants · Prior reservation required)

The sexological workshop led by Sigrid Cervera follows a well-established museum format-with a first experiential part and a second museum tour-to address menopause from a transformative perspective.

During the first part, the focus will be on what the climacteric is and the main physical, emotional, and sexual changes of this stage, moving away from deficiency-based narratives to speak about transformation and connection with desire.

The second part will consist of a guided tour of the museum's galleries to analyze how art has represented-or rendered invisible-mature female sexuality throughout history. "Menopause is not an end, but a transition in which desire is transformed," explains Cervera.

The activity is held in collaboration with Bijoux Indiscrets, a Spanish brand founded by women and specializing in female intimate wellness. Participants will receive a kit with products from their Sex au Naturel line, a tote bag, and accompanying materials.

Eros Cabaret Show. Women on Stage From March 15 to 28. 8:00 pm

The program culminates with special sessions of the Eros Cabaret Show dedicated to the performative dimension of the female body. Bodily affirmation and stage presence, in a show ranging from vintage burlesque to oriental dance, among others.

"With this program, the MEB reinforces its identity as a cultural and educational museum integrating art history and contemporary sexology, offering unique proposals for March 8 without compromising on rigor or experience," says MEB director Sarah Rippert.
