"Time travel through the Royal Shipyards of Barcelona" at the Maritime Museum

This year, 2026, Barcelona has been named World Capital of Architecture. As part of this event, we present this exhibition to remember the origin and history of one of the city's most emblematic buildings. The Royal Shipyards are internationally recognized for their monumentality and their excellent state of preservation, and in 1976 they were declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument.

Their origin dates back to the 13th century, during the reign of Peter the Great. Over the following centuries, they were expanded and modified until reaching the appearance we know today. The exhibition takes a journey through the different periods and uses of this complex, considered the largest and most complete medieval shipyards preserved in the world, and a unique example of civil Gothic architecture.
