Music

Today's Micro-operas is an innovative scenic proposal that brings together three key cultural institutions in Barcelona: the CCCB, the MACBA, and the Gran Teatre del Liceu. This project gathers artists from different disciplines to offer a new vision of traditional opera, rethinking it from a contemporary perspective.

Starting from the shared concern about the climate crisis, inter-species communications, and the acoustics of nature, an artistic reflection itinerary structured around sound, words, and images is presented. Each institution hosts a multidisciplinary opera of new creation, with durations ranging from 15 to 20 minutes, to offer the public a unique journey that raises new visions and questions about aspects that concern and affect us.

With a specifically designed approach to promote young artists from visual, performing, and literary disciplines, Today's Micro-operas reflect on the lyrical genre by exploring the relationship between music, new technologies, and new dramaturgies.

The ticket includes access to the three micro-operas. The total duration of the activity is 2 hours and 30 minutes. During this time, the three pieces are performed in the following order: the first at the CCCB, the second at Macba, and the third at the Liceu. You must arrive 15 minutes before the start of the session at the CCCB Theater. There is a 25-minute break between each piece for moving to the next venue.
