Flowers and violets

Mr. Deulofeu says: "We suffered a lot during the Transition. The right to live, work, and sleep in peace was denied to us. That's why a long banner was hung along the Rambla that said 'We want peaceful Ramblas'. At another time, we had a controversy arising from our purpose of modernizing and providing services to the flower stalls. Sempronio, the city chronicler, argued that the stalls, with their marble tables, were a relic and should be preserved. But we realized that we could not leave those good people out in the open. And we succeeded. Now they have good kiosks, with a roof, running water, and a telephone.

Among the good memories, I must mention the project to make the Virgin of the Rosary the patroness of the Rambla, which was successfully carried out. Those things that start as projects and then continue are what bring satisfaction. As an anecdote, I remember that, on the occasion of the Rosary events, Sempronio told me: You have achieved what no one had achieved. That I spoke and addressed the public inside a church. It was also a joy to make the decision to posthumously award Amadeu Bagués the distinction of Honorary Ramblista."
