Arturo San Agustín has died

Friends of La Rambla want to express their sorrow for the death of Arturo San Agustín.
Writer, journalist, and columnist, Arturo San Agustín received the Ramblista d'Honor award in 2019 in recognition of his journalistic and literary work strongly linked to the city and its culture.
Convinced Ramblista, Arturo San Agustín always showed his affection for La Rambla and for the Association of Friends of La Rambla.
We will miss him very much!

In 2016, on the occasion of the delivery of the Ramblista d'Honor awards to Francisco Ibáñez, John Hoffman, Las Golondrinas and the Tot Raval Foundation. In 2016, he gave us this emotional speech about his affection for La Rambla:
"Illustrious authorities, friends, enemies, Good afternoon, buenas tardes a todos.
And thanks to Amics de la Rambla for inviting me to this event that all Barcelonians who care about La Rambla celebrate.
I confess that I suspected that Her Excellency Ms. Ada Colau, Mayor of Barcelona, had ordered not to let me enter her town hall. Perhaps, then, it was La Rambla that made it possible for me to be here among you. Or that, with so many visits to the UN, the lady mayoress forgot to order one of her own to prohibit me from entering her town hall.
Allow me to begin by saying that La Rambla is the only urban space in Barcelona that allows us Barcelonians to walk without fear of ending up in a hospital courtesy of some cyclist, that excessively protected urban species, many of whose specimens abuse that protection daily. I speak, of course, of La Rambla during the day, because at night La Rambla is something else. But I will talk about that later.
