Close the first edition of La Rambla Film Festival
January 23rd. 2026
From January 17th to 23rd, La Rambla has hosted the first edition of La Rambla Film Festival, an international cinema showcase that aims to become a platform for young talent and cinematographic creativity in our city.
The heart of Barcelona as a stage and platform for cinematographic talent. La Rambla de Barcelona is much more than an emblematic avenue. It is a living symbol of the city, an open catwalk to the world where cultures, languages, artistic expressions, and emotions blend. But beyond its touristic role, La Rambla also becomes a showcase of Barcelona's identity and a privileged path to project local cinematographic talent on an international scale.
With the Cinema Maldà as the main stage, and with the collaboration of other establishments and institutions on La Rambla such as Fnac Rambles, the Wax Museum, Café de l'Òpera, Elisava, the Reial Cercle Artístic, and the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, the festival has offered screenings of all the feature films and short films that have participated in this first edition.
The award ceremony for this first edition will take place at the Wax Museum of Barcelona this evening and will grant the Rambla de Cine awards.
As for the festival's awards, "Laroy, Texas" by Shane Atkinson has been distinguished as the best film in the official section. The award for best direction and screenplay have been for "Diary of a Young Man" by Zhen Honglai. Awards for the best short films have also been highlighted.
La Rambla Film Festival Forum
After the first edition, La Rambla Film Festival aims to prepare its continuity with a program that will be offered throughout the year, creating a forum and a film club based in La Rambla.
From January 24th to March 30th, 2026, the festival will extend its program with the forum space to be held at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, Fnac Rambles, and Café de l'Òpera with various activities.
In this La Rambla Film Festival Forum, the screening of the official section/Rambla de Mar at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona is already planned, where the sea, science, and maritime environment are the protagonists: "Livind tide Dead Tide" by Claudia Daibert (date to be determined) and "Antartica: War Diaries" by Volodymyr Khomko (date to be determined).
Other planned activities include the screening at the Reial Cercle Artístic of the documentary "Hospital de Campanya" by Jordi Roigé and film screenings for neighborhood schools at Cinema Maldà as part of the CINEMAESCOLA program.
Café de l'Òpera will also host the presentation of the Rambla Film Club, a new film club to provide La Rambla and Ciutat Vella with a cinema dissemination space. Its headquarters will be at Cinema Maldà and Café de l'Òpera on La Rambla.
