Amics de La Rambla organizes free floral art workshops on La Rambla to defend and promote the flower stalls of La Rambla
On November 10, two Christmas-themed workshops will be held at the Boqueria Market's Espai Boqueria
The project "Les flors, a La Rambla" aims to promote the flower stalls of La Rambla, defend their activity as one of the traditions of Barcelona that must be preserved, and spread the culture related to flowers.
Within this project, Amics de La Rambla organizes floral art workshops throughout the year with the support of the Barcelona City Council, the Government of Catalonia, the Florists' Guild of Catalonia, the Boqueria Market, and Impulsem.
On November 10, a new edition of these Christmas decoration floral art workshops will take place.
In the morning, at 12 pm, a workshop reserved for Amics de La Rambla's associated merchants and market stallholders for "Christmas decoration" will be held, where attendees can learn some tips to decorate their market stall or shop.
On the same day, at 5 pm, we will have the "Christmas centerpieces" workshop where attendees will learn to make Christmas decorations with typical Christmas elements, flowers, and greens. This workshop is open to everyone.
The workshops take place at the Boqueria Market's Espai Boqueria. The workshops are free, but prior registration is required. Registrations are open and can be done on the Amics de La Rambla website (www.amicsdelarambla.cat).
A tradition to preserve
With these workshops, Amics de La Rambla aims to promote the flower stalls of La Rambla and defend their traditional activity.
The flower sales on La Rambla is one of Barcelona's most cherished traditions. Although there is evidence of flower sellers on La Rambla since the 13th century, the first flower stalls are from 1853. Initially, they were tables that were set up and dismantled on the same day, and over the years, they became permanent.
"Les flors, a La Rambla" have accompanied the daily lives of many generations of Barcelona residents filling the city's most important promenade with color, scents, and life. La Rambla without flowers is as unthinkable as Barcelona without La Rambla.
If we want to maintain this tradition, if we want the flowers to continue bringing joy to passersby, onlookers, shoppers, neighbors, and visitors, the people of Barcelona must get involved. We must buy more flowers and, whenever possible, do so on La Rambla.
Currently, there are 8 stalls left, and their future is uncertain. From Amics de La Rambla, we want these stalls to have a guaranteed future and once again fill La Rambla with flowers.
