Joan Rossell has died

Friends of La Rambla want to express their sorrow for the death of the florist of La Rambla and Honorary Ramblista Joan Rossell.

Joan Rossell was a florist on La Rambla until he retired at the age of 85 after a lifetime of working at Flors Maria.

Until Joan's retirement, Flors Maria was one of the oldest flower stalls on La Rambla, since 1854. A true institution, where Joan was one of the most popular florists on La Rambla for his love of the promenade and his great professionalism and creativity in floral art. Joan was responsible for the floral arrangements at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Palau de la Música, and the Palauet Albéniz.

In addition to the Honorary Ramblista award he received in 2011, Joan Rossell was also recognized in 2023 as a member of the Council of Sages of La Boqueria.
