The Mercat de la Boqueria hosted today the official presentation of the 12th edition of Tast a la Rambla, Barcelona's great gastronomic festival, which will take place again from May 28th to 31st at Plaça de Catalunya. Tast a La Rambla is organized by Amics de La Rambla and group gsr.

As Àlex Balletbó, President of Amics de La Rambla, explained, "the event is made possible thanks to the support and collaboration of institutions, brands, experts, and establishments, as well as to all the people who come to enjoy Tast a la Rambla, to whom he expressed his sincere gratitude and wishes to announce for the next edition the return to its original location, La Rambla." Àlex Balletbó also highlighted the presence of 9 establishments from Ciutat Vella. For his part, Jordi Parra, director of group gsr, was in charge of announcing this year's new features, among which stand out "the participation of 30 restaurants and 6 patisseries, along with some of the most renowned names in Barcelona's cuisine, wine, and products in the Aula Showcooking, with a program designed to bring knowledge, creativity, and the latest trends in contemporary gastronomy closer to the public."

Nàdia Quevedo, Commissioner for Economic Promotion, Commerce, and Restaurants of the Barcelona City Council, highlighted that "Tast a La Rambla is a good example of the city's commitment to restaurants and patisseries, as well as to values such as sustainability. This year Barcelona is the European Capital of Local Commerce, and events like Tast help highlight the value of the more than 14,000 bars and restaurants in the city, which contribute to our daily social cohesion, entrepreneurship, innovation, and quality."

A Tast a La Rambla Full of Flavour

Plaça de Catalunya will once again be the setting for the festival while the transformation works on La Rambla continue, a location that strengthens Tast a La Rambla's desire to remain a fully open, cross-cutting space, fully connected to the cultural and social life of Barcelona.

With free entry and an offer open to all citizens, this year's event will bring together 30 emblematic restaurants and 6 patisseries from Barcelona, which will offer their creations in tapa format for 6 euros. The event thus consolidates its role as the great showcase of contemporary Barcelona gastronomy, bringing to the public projects that define the city's current culinary moment: from traditional Catalan cuisine to signature proposals, world cuisines, or creative pâtisserie.

Among the participating restaurants are establishments such as Atempo*, Cinc Sentits**, Enoteca Paco Pérez**, Compartir Barcelona, Dos Pebrots, Nectari, Gaig, Tapas 24, Casa Amàlia, Família Nuri, Leña Barcelona, Restaurant CentOnze or Virens, among many others. This year, the gastronomic offering from Mercat de la Boqueria will be present thanks to Kiosko Universal. The pastry proposal will feature names like Forn Gil, Pastisseria Escribà, L'Atelier Barcelona, Takashi Ochiai, Sauleda Pastissers or Mervier Canal.

In this edition, the event is especially reinforcing its commitment to gastronomy linked to sustainability, respect for the environment, and local products, values that will shape both the tastings and the parallel activities.

Tast a la Rambla also strengthens its social dimension with the participation of the Casal dels Infants, the inclusion of staff from Cuina Justa, and the collaboration of students from CETT, thus reaffirming the event's commitment to inclusion, training, and the social and solidarity economy.

Tast a La Rambla will bring together a total of 13 Michelin stars and 18 Repsol Suns

The program of the 12th edition combines culinary excellence, the democratization of gastronomy, and dissemination. Beyond the tastings offered by the different establishments, the event maintains its educational and experiential aspects with an intense schedule of showcookings, tastings, and free public activities.

Thus, the Aula Showcooking will feature some of the most outstanding names in today's national gastronomy, such as Mateu Casañas, Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Nil Dulcet (Disfrutar***), Fran Agudo (MontBar**), Jordi Artal (Cinc Sentits**), Albert Raurich (Dos Palillos*), Ferran Centelles (elBulli Foundation) or Rafa Zafra (Estimar), among other professionals from the gastronomic, wine, and product sectors.

The schedule will also include areas dedicated to the promotion of Catalan wines by INCAVI, guided tastings, live cooking, and immersive experiences linked to gastronomic innovation, such as the virtual reality proposal from Balfegó bringing the world of bluefin tuna closer to the public.

Tast a La Rambla will also broaden its gastronomic scope with the participation of different territories that will bring their own identity, products, and culinary tradition to the program. Saborea Lanzarote returns with tastings and workshops dedicated to volcanic cuisine and the island's wines; Raíz Culinaria - Castilla La Mancha will showcase some of the most representative recipes from its five provinces to the public; and Andorra, Haute Mountain Gastronomy will display the uniqueness of its regional cuisine through local products, guided tastings, and live demonstrations. A gastronomic journey that reinforces the open, educational, and experiential nature of the event.

Ramon Agenjo receives the 3rd Tast a La Rambla Award

One of the highlights of this edition will be the presentation of the 3rd Tast a La Rambla Award to Ramon Agenjo, executive and great-grandson of the founder of Estrella Damm, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the Barcelona brewery.

The award aims to recognize the career of a figure closely linked to Barcelona's gastronomic, cultural, and social development, as well as the role Estrella Damm has played over decades in building the city's Mediterranean and gastronomic imagery.

Created to distinguish people and institutions contributing to enriching Barcelona's gastronomic culture, the Tast a La Rambla Award has previously recognized Christian Escribà and Carles Gaig.

The Tast a la Rambla 2026 program will be completed with live music throughout the four days of the festival, once again transforming Plaça Catalunya into a meeting point where gastronomy, culture, and the city will share the same stage.
