Temporary closure of two of the accesses of Liceu station for the restoration works of the pinnacles
July 21st. 2025
Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) temporarily closes two of the four entrances located on La Rambla of Liceu station on different days and for a week each. The two entrances that will be closed are those in front of Liceu, the Trinitat Nova direction entrance will be closed from July 21 to 27 and the Zona Universitària direction entrance from July 27 to August 3.
These interventions will serve to repair the rusted front metal sheet, paint the side metallic structure with signs of corrosion, and replace the inner side glass. This closure of the entrances coincides with the month with the lowest passenger flow in this station.
These works are part of the improvement works of the entrances to accommodate again the area where the original pinnacles of the 1925 Liceu station will be repositioned on the occasion of the Metro Centenary. These architectural elements will dress again the two entrances located on La Rambla, at the side of Liceu, and will allow to recover the original appearance that the two station entrances had on the year of its inauguration, on July 5, 1925. With this action, TMB responds to the historical claim of Friends of La Rambla who requested the restitution of these historical elements.
