The Erotic Museum of Barcelona launches Eros at the Campus

“Eros on Campus: University sexual education for a generation demanding answers”

Following the recent presentation of Eros en famille, the museum expands its Art and Sexology program into the university setting with an academic offer designed to address the growing social concern about the lack of sexual education in young people and households.

The Erotic Museum of Barcelona (MEB) presents “Eros on Campus”, the new university line of its educational program “Art and Sexology”, conceived to integrate sexual education within the academic sphere through seminars, lectures and guided tours, workshops and research projects, among others.

The launch coincides with a moment of notable social concern about the lack of emotional and sexual literacy among young people and families, as evidenced in the media over the past few months. With this project, the museum reaffirms its role as a cultural institution committed to rigorous, accessible and culturally situated sexual education through the “Art and Sexology” program, developed and led by the MEB's sexologist, Sigrid Cervera.

“Following the launch of Eros en famille —where we accompany families in conversations about sexuality through art and sensitivity—, it was necessary to offer the university community an equally rigorous and creative space. Eros on Campus is born to provide students with criteria and a cultural perspective”, affirms Sarah Rippert, director of the Erotic Museum of Barcelona (MEB).

Sigrid Cervera, sexologist responsible for the Education Department of the MEB, ensures that “at a time when society shows deep deficiencies in sexual education, Eros on Campus allows us to reinforce the role of the museum as a cultural and educational agent. We want universities to see the MEB as an ally in educating more critical, informed, and responsible generations, fostering a more complex and human understanding of sexuality”.

The presentation of “Eros on Campus” comes a few weeks after the launch of “Eros en famille”, the educational line that accompanies families with children from 6 to 25 years old in conversations about sexuality through erotic art and a sexological framework. With both proposals, the MEB consolidates a unique educational and cultural ecosystem in the Spanish museum scene.

A bridge between museum and university to address an urgent need

“Eros on Campus” is aimed at universities and higher education institutions that wish to integrate sexological training in degrees such as education, medicine, social work, arts, humanities or communication, among others. The program is structured around three main axes:

• Customized teaching: seminars, guided tours and workshops led by the MEB's educational team, adapted to the objectives of each group or faculty.

• Meetings and scientific seminars: spaces to rethink sexuality from critical, contemporary and transversal perspectives.

• Development of academic projects (cultural mediation, sexological research, participatory museography, specialized communication, etc.).

The creation of this university line complements the increasing demand for tools to address sexuality in educational centers and families. As stated in “Eros en famille”, the MEB advocates for the creation of safe and accompanying spaces to work on emotions, desires, diversity and coexistence through culture and erotic art, offering resources that allow continuing conversations at home. “Eros en famille” keeps registrations open throughout the year with intergenerational activities and support modules for educators.

The “Eros on Campus” proposal will be available for scheduling starting in January 2026 and is open to both national and international institutions interested in a collaboration that can be both one-off and ongoing.

Universities and university centers interested in joining “Eros on Campus” can request more information and arrange a personalized informational meeting.
