The Rambla Film Festival closes its first edition with The Rambla de Cinema Awards Night

The Rambla Film Festival closed its first edition on January 23rd with the announcement of the festival's Palmarès and the presentation of the Rambla de Cinema Awards, which took place at The Night of the Rambla de Cinema Awards at the Wax Museum in Barcelona.
The awards recognize the careers of professionals linked to the history of cinema in Barcelona. The Rambla de Cinema Awards were presented in this edition to Enrique Cerezo (Antoni Bofarull Award), Isona Passola, Jordi Cadena, Mireia Ros, Jana Montllor, Xavier-Daniel, to Betevé's program 'Barcelona i Acció', and to the Barcelona Film Commission.
The festival's Palmarès distinguished as the best film in the official competitive section, dedicated to new directors, 'LaRoy, Texas' by Shane Atkinson, which also received the award for best performance for Dylan Baker. The awards for best direction and best script go to the Chinese film 'Diary of a Young Man' by director Zheng Honglai, the Women in Film award for a debut director in the international scene was granted to the Turkish director Belkis Bayrak for her film 'Gülizar'. 'Vinchuca' by Luís Zorraquin won the special jury prize, the award for the section dedicated to cinema within cinema was for 'Vlasta, el recuerdo no es eterno' by Candela Vey and Tino Pereira, tied with the short film 'Quelques Siècles de Plus' by Raphaël Martin-Dumazer. Best Original Soundtrack to Jordi Longán for the music of the film 'The Roots'. The award for best short film was for 'Las Subordinadas del género' by Alicia Rodríguez and the best short film in Catalan original version for 'La Gran Esmaixada' by Carles Puig Mundó. The jury also gave a special mention to the Colombian film 'Body, spirit & bureaucracy' by Paul Gustavo Barrios.
The festival, supported by Amics de La Rambla, will extend its activities throughout the months of February and March with the festival's Forum offering documentary screenings at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona and at the Reial Cercle Artístic.
In addition, the seed planted by the Rambla Film Festival has also led to the creation of the new Cineclub Rambla, based at Café de l'Òpera, which will regularly program cinema at the Cinema Maldà.
