The works on La Rambla are progressing with new tasks in the central promenade

November 17th. 2025

Starting this Monday the 17th, the first occupations begin at the upper part of the promenade, in the central section, between Pelai and Tallers and between Teatre Poliorama and Pintor Fortuny, and starting on Monday the 24th, in front of Palau Moja

The transformation works of La Rambla start this Monday at the central section of the promenade, with the first works at the upper part, between plaça de Catalunya and Carrer de Portaferrissa. The Barcelona City Council continues to advance in the transformation of the emblematic promenade with the aim of completing the works throughout La Rambla by 2027.

The works that are starting now will be done in sections in order to maintain pedestrian routes and without modifying the current traffic flow. Specifically, today Monday 17th of November, half of the promenade corresponding to the side of Raval between Pelai and Tallers streets will be occupied, and the work will also be implemented between Teatre Poliorama and Pintor Fortuny, in this case at the side of the Gothic Quarter.

Starting from Monday, November 24, a third space will be occupied, in front of Palau Moja, which on this occasion will occupy the entire central promenade. To facilitate pedestrian passage, a pedestrian route will be opened next to the Raval side of La Rambla, where the works were previously occupying this side of the promenade.

This new action comes after last June when the works began on the Raval side of the emblematic promenade, which meant that all the upward mobility of La Rambla recovered the Gothic side.

During the works, the public has at their disposal a permanent information point about the new Rambla located at Palau de la Virreina (La Rambla, 99). It is the Rambla Space, where information and communication to the public, social, economic, cultural agents, entities, associations from the area, and in general to anyone who wants details or answers about how the works are progressing and what the future Rambla will be like.

The Rambla Space operates with two professionals and an exhibition space that offers a visual approach to the history, presentation, and updating of the execution of the works and the explanation of the redevelopment project, dynamic and with contents that will evolve as the work on La Rambla progresses.

To reinforce street-level information, from November 17 to December 19, from Monday to Friday and from 10am to 2pm and from 4pm to 8pm, two teams of informants will visit all the businesses on La Rambla to provide information personally about the new actions in the central promenade, about the existence of the Rambla Space, and to collect doubts and questions.
