With this series of videos they want to invite you to (Re)Discover La Rambla. We want to bring you closer to institutions, historic businesses, attractions, traditions...
This third video is dedicated to the Barcelona Wax Museum.
The New Barcelona Wax Museum opens its doors converted into a 21st century museum without losing its impressive architecture and history. Using new technologies, figures, and scenography distributed in 28 areas, visitors will enjoy a journey through part of our history and our present.
Located in the heart of the city, in what was the headquarters of the Banco de Barcelona, the museum is now home to a representation of the most emblematic characters of all time.
The Museum is located in Passatge de La Banca, a small street that starts at La Rambla Santa Mònica.
The building was built in 1867 to be the headquarters of the company "El Comercio". Later, the Banco de Barcelona and Crédit i Docks were installed in its offices, which is the commercial brand for which the building is still known. The architect, Elies Rogent, designed a neoclassical palace that is classified as a building of historical and artistic interest. In 1973, the architect and scenographer Enrique Alarcón converted it into the Barcelona Wax Museum.
