Videos to (Re)Discover La Rambla V. Jamboree
With this series of videos, they want to invite you to (Re)Discover La Rambla. We want to bring you closer to institutions, historic businesses, attractions, traditions...
This fifth video is dedicated to the Jamboree.
Jamboree is one of the most historic music venues in the city. The best Jazz musicians in the world have passed through the small stage of this Jazz Club. Jamboree is closely linked to the history of Jazz in our country. Its long life, since it opened its doors in 1960, is full of concerts, two per day, 365 days a year.
So many years dedicated to live music leave many stories and countless legendary performances... figures such as Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Tete Montoliu, Lou Bennet, Art Famer, Peter King, Idris Muhammad have graced the stage of Jamboree... the list goes on and on and is as long as it is impressive. The Jamboree stage has been an exceptional witness to the heartbeat of jazz in Catalonia.
The work done by the venue as a platform for launching artists and promoting jazz is also important. Artists like Libert Fortuny, Carme Canela, Carles Benavent, or Chano Domínguez have shared their talent with the loyal audience of Jamboree.
The programming at Jamboree is always interesting, which has earned it recognition from the media, the music world, and especially from an informed audience that sees Jamboree as one of its reference points. But one of the virtues of Jamboree is that it has always served as a meeting point for people from different backgrounds: locals and visitors, connoisseurs and audiences eager to discover and have a good time, jazz enthusiasts and fans of other musical styles... all find in Jamboree a place to enjoy good music.
Currently, under the direction of the Mas i Mas group (which also programs the Sala Tarantos connected to Jamboree), the Club is experiencing a second youth with a stable program that offers an interesting selection of the best national and international jazz. Local jazz is very present, with approximately 60% of the programmed musicians being from Catalonia. Alongside our local talent, both established and emerging, we find the best of the international jazz scene with performances of an excellent caliber.
Whether you love jazz or just want to discover it and don't know where to find good performances, Jamboree opens its doors every day of the week to offer you a great time with its live music.
From 12 am, Jamboree operates as a specialized nightclub with funk, hip-hop, Latin jazz, and the latest dance music trends. A young and international audience and a cosmopolitan atmosphere are the characteristics of Jamboree's nights.
