Videos to (Re)Discover La Rambla VII. Hotel España

With this series of videos they want to invite you to (Re)Discover La Rambla. We want to bring you closer to institutions, historic businesses, attractions, traditions...

This seventh video is dedicated to the Hotel España.

The Hotel España opened its doors - under the name Fonda d'Espanya - in 1859 and at the beginning of the 20th century it was redesigned by the modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner with the collaboration of Eusebi Arnau, who made the spectacular alabaster chimney in the meeting room (where Pablo Gargallo, then a student of Eusebi Arnau, also collaborated) and Ramon Casas.

The restoration was recognized by the City Council of Barcelona, which awarded it - in 1904 - the Diploma of Honor for being "the best decorated establishment in the artistic-ornamental concept."

The "Videos for (Re)Discovering La Rambla" are part of the project "La Rambla, a new model of Urban Tourism" with which Amics de La Rambla wants to invite you to stroll along La Rambla and get to know it better. The project is supported by the Generalitat de Catalunya, the City Council of Barcelona and GetYourGuide.
