With this series of videos they want to invite you to (Re)Discover La Rambla. We want to bring you closer to institutions, historical businesses, attractions, traditions...

This eighth video is dedicated to the Erotic Museum of Barcelona.

In the heart of La Rambla we find the first museum dedicated exclusively to the erotic art and culture of our country. The Museum was born with the clear intention of disseminating erotic culture by offering the city a didactic and playful information center at the same time.

The collection of the Erotic Museum is composed of more than 800 pieces of high historical value which, having eroticism as its main theme, belong to different expressions of human culture. There are pieces that have historical, archaeological, artistic, anthropological, literary, or simply playful value.

Eroticism is always present in the history of our civilization. Eroticism in ancient civilizations is especially present in the artistic representations that have survived to our days. In the museum we find reproductions of classical statues or frescoes from Pompeii.

Art from different civilizations (from India to different African cultures passing through Japan or samples of European eroticism), erotic postcards from the 19th century, a collection specially dedicated to sadomasochism or exhibitions of contemporary art with erotic motifs... the Museum's collection is very varied and is complemented by private collections that are temporarily exhibited.

The "Videos for (Re)Discovering La Rambla" are part of the project "La Rambla, a new model of Urban Tourism" with which Friends of La Rambla want to invite you to stroll around and get to know La Rambla better. The project is supported by the Government of Catalonia, the Barcelona City Council, and GetYourGuide.
