Commercial Activities
Commerce is one of the key activities on La Rambla and also one of the largest collectives within our entity. In fact, it was a merchant, Amadeu Bagués, a well-known jeweler and distinguished citizen, who in 1960 proposed creating the Association to about ten people, among them the owners of some of the most emblematic establishments of the boulevard.
Over these nearly 60 years, commerce has changed significantly, but the spirit of service of the Association towards the merchants of the boulevard remains intact. The main objective is to defend the interests of this collective and to promote La Rambla as a complete Commercial Hub.
Thus, in addition to representing them before institutions, the Association leads various initiatives throughout the year to promote commerce on La Rambla and encourage customer visits. Initiatives promoted by our entity include the tourist-commercial map of La Rambla and the city, the Christmas lighting, the La Rambla Friend's Card with discounts and special benefits for its holders at participating establishments, the printing and distribution of shopping bags, as well as various and diverse agreements with financial institutions, utility companies, service companies… thanks to which La Rambla's members enjoy numerous benefits and receive preferential treatment.
Furthermore, Amics de La Rambla belongs to Barcelona Oberta, an entity that brings together the city's key tourist commercial areas and with which it works to promote all kinds of projects and activities aimed at fostering the full development of urban commerce in social, economic, and cultural spheres.
Amics de la Rambla has joined the Shopping Line, the commercial route promoted by Turisme de Barcelona, here and beyond our borders.
Moreover, the Association offers its members services such as processing permits with the City Council; advice on various aspects enabling the proper development of commercial activity; information on a range of topics, such as the arrival of cruise ships, commercial calendars and opening hours, special campaigns, etc.
Agreements and Grants
Civic Agreement for a Clean and Sustainable Barcelona
Our Association's adherence to this commitment provides a 10% discount on garbage and waste collection fees for all institutions and establishments affiliated with Amics de La Rambla.
Club LLeureSport
This agreement is valid at both the CEM Frontó Colom and CEM Can Ricart sports centers. In both municipal sports centers, members of Amics de La Rambla and employees of associated companies enjoy a 50% discount on registration and a 10% reduction on the full-day fee.
Linguistic Normalization Consortium
The agreement with the Barcelona CNL provides all members and associated companies with information on the campaigns being developed by the CNL, and preferential enrollment in Catalan language courses organized by the Barcelona CNL. Furthermore, within the framework of this agreement, the 'Voluntariat per la llengua' program is also promoted. All CNL activities and this agreement operate under the premise that Catalan is an inclusion tool and should be made as accessible as possible to all citizens.
Diari El Raval
This newspaper, specializing in local news about El Raval, offers discounts to members, entities, and businesses associated with Amics de La Rambla for advertising their shops and services in its monthly publication, which has been distributed free of charge and continuously in the Raval neighborhood and surrounding area since 1993.
Diari Línia La Rambla
Individuals, entities, and businesses associated with Amics de La Rambla enjoy a 75% discount on advertising space purchases in this monthly publication, which is distributed free of charge. The publication prints 100,000 copies monthly, distributed at more than 30 points along La Rambla.
Dommia
Internet Service Provider and Web Design. Preferential treatment for members, businesses, and entities associated with Amics de La Rambla.
Mapfre
The agreement with this insurance company guarantees a special price to businesses associated with Amics de La Rambla when contracting the company's products: ITT Insurance for businesses, health insurance for SMEs, indemnity and health insurance for freelancers, and reimbursement of medical expenses.
Unimat
The agreement with this company, with a wide range of services in the field of occupational risk prevention, individual and collective health, and specialized training, ensures members and companies associated with Amics de La Rambla receive advice and special conditions when contracting their services.
Every year, the Association receives grants from various bodies to cover the expenses of various initiatives of general interest - La Rambla's Main Festival, Christmas on La Rambla, Christmas Lights, Tast a La Rambla -. These grants must be renewed each year.
