Trade is one of the key activities on La Rambla and also one of the largest groups in our organization. In fact, it was a merchant, Amadeu Bagués, a known jeweler and Prohom of the city, who in 1960 proposed to create the Association to a dozen people, including the owners of some of the most emblematic establishments on the promenade.

During these almost 50 years, trade has changed quite a bit, but the Association's spirit of service towards the merchants of the promenade remains intact. The main objective is to defend the interests of this group and promote La Rambla as a complete Commercial Axis.

Thus, in addition to representing them before institutions, the Association leads various initiatives throughout the year to promote trade on La Rambla and encourage customer visits.

Initiatives of our organization include the tourist-commercial map of La Rambla and the city, Christmas lighting, the Friend of La Rambla card with discounts and benefits for its holders in establishments participating in the initiative, the printing and distribution of bags for trade, as well as various agreements with financial entities, supply companies, service companies... thanks to which La Rambla's associates enjoy numerous advantages and receive preferential treatment.

In addition, Amics de la Rambla belongs to the Barcelona Axis Foundation, an organization that brings together the city's 19 commercial axes and works to promote all kinds of projects and activities aimed at fostering the full development of urban commerce in social, economic, and cultural fields.

Together with this Foundation, Amics de la Rambla has become part of the Shopping Line, the commercial route promoted by Barcelona Tourism, here and beyond our borders.

Likewise, the Association offers its partners services such as processing permits before the City Council; advising on different aspects that allow the proper development of commercial activity; providing information on various topics, such as the arrival of cruise ships, commercial calendar and schedules, special campaigns...
