Cleaning and Maintenance
Cleaning and maintenance of La Rambla are two basic aspects for the proper conservation of our closest environment.
To ensure this goal, the Association, in addition to monitoring the situation, is part of the Civic Agreement for a Clean and Sustainable Barcelona, the dialogue tool for the implementation of New Cleaning Services and Selective Waste Collection, which has made possible the consensus and complicity between the Barcelona City Council and civil society. The involvement of Amics de La Rambla in this project allows a 10% discount on waste fees and collection of waste for all members of our organization.
In addition, Amics de La Rambla channels issues related to cleanliness to the relevant authorities. La Rambla initiatives have included requests for increased trash cans on the promenade, repainting of road signs, installation of public toilets, and ramps in the public toilets of Pitarra, among others.
Furthermore, under the premises of the same conservation objective of the environment, the Association has dedicated and continues to dedicate much attention to the trees of La Rambla, one of the most universal symbols of the promenade. Thus, in addition to requesting periodic pruning of the plane trees, it has been possible to improve the appearance of the tree basins by placing compact soil that allows the roots to transpire and prevents water accumulation when it rains.
At the Association's request, the damaged pavement has also been replaced, and a review of all the lampposts on the promenade has been carried out.
