"If you drink water from the Font de Canaletes, you will always be in love with Barcelona, and no matter how far you go, you will always return." This is the legend of the plaque at the foot of the most famous fountain in our city.
Meeting point, for celebrations, for demonstrations... we all know the fountain and what it means. In articles like this, you can find its history.
But what you may not know is that the Fountain at the top of La Rambla has given its name to a model by Fundició Colomer that is marketed worldwide. The model was commissioned by the City of Barcelona for the Universal Exhibition of 1888 and Colomer is the company responsible for the restoration of the Font de Canaletes.
For this reason, you can find Canaletes fountains in places as different as Cuba, in Plaza Barcelona de Buenos Aires, in Cartagena (Colombia), in Montevideo, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, or León (Mexico).
You can also find different fountains of this model on different streets and squares in Barcelona (there are 17 more) and in towns such as Lloret de Mar, Barberà del Vallès, Calaf, or Granada.
