Memory plaque in honor of Josep Sunyol

In front of number 133, on the ground in front of the door that used to be the one of the magazine "La Rambla" that he directed, the Friends of Josep Sunyol placed a plaque in his memory. The plaque reads as follows:

"On the centenary of the birth of Josep Sunyol i Garriga, president of F.C. Barcelona, murdered in Guadarrama on 6-8-1936. Friends of Josep Sunyol. 21-7-98"

Josep Sunyol was president of the Catalan Football Federation and FC Barcelona. Sunyol was also a deputy for ERC in the Congress of Deputies in 1931, 1933, and 1936. He was also president of the RAC from 1933 to November 1934, a great lover of sports, cultural patron, founder and promoter of the sports newspaper 'La Rambla', Catalan nationalist.

Josep Sunyol was shot without trial by the Francoist troops after being arrested in Guadarrama on August 6, 1936.
