Santa Eulàlia
Information

Address
Boqueria, 2
08002 Barcelona

On the corner of La Rambla and Carrer de la Boqueria, at Pla de l'Os, there is a large marble image of Santa Eulàlia. The sculpture is the work of Eduard B. Alentorn and is on the third floor of the building above the cover of the cylindrical balcony on the second floor of the building.

Adjoining the wall is a plaque that was placed when the current building was inaugurated to install the Sarret Hermanos clothing store. The store became known precisely for this image of the saint, and people began to call it that. In 1933, eleven years before moving to Passeig de Gràcia, the company officially adopted the popular name.

The plaque recalls that Domènec Taberner i Prims placed the image there as a gesture of gratitude for being cured of an illness and in substitution for the one that had been in the chapel that occupied the plot on which the new building was constructed.
