Society of Attraction of Outsiders plate
On the left side of the portal of La Rambla 37 there is a ceramic plaque in honor of Manuel Ribé Labarta, promoter of the Society of Foreigners' Attraction.
The inscription reads as follows: "Being Mayor of Barcelona Don Domingo J. Sanllehy the Society of Foreigners' Attraction was founded and on its 60th anniversary the Center for Initiatives and Tourism honors the memory of its promoter. Mr. Manuel Ribé Labarta."
The Society of Foreigners' Attraction was an organization for the promotion and development of tourism in the city of Barcelona that operated between 1908 and 1939 with the aim of providing travelers and tourists with all kinds of information about Barcelona and Catalonia.
The Society had an information office on La Rambla to provide documentation and data related to itineraries, means of transport, visits to establishments, accommodation... It also offered the service of guiding and receiving foreigners.
The society carried out significant work in terms of publications through brochures, posters, and systematic publications. Between December 1910 and August 1936, the Society published the monthly magazine Barcelona Attraction, which would become an informative reference and the entity's dissemination organ. With the Civil War, the entity faced many obstacles to continue and eventually disappeared.
