Twin fountains at Plaça de Catalunya
The Twin Fountains of Catalonia Square are two ornamental fountains located on the upper terrace of the square, in the gallery of statues from the Universal Exhibition that took place in 1929.
The fountains offer light and water shows. The music of the choreography can be followed with a mobile phone system.
They are made up of two symmetrical basins and two technical rooms located under the square, which are accessed from the transport interchange. This monumental complex was built in 1959 and the author of the project was Espiau Seoane, who at that time held the position of head of the Water Games and Illuminations Service of the Barcelona City Council.
