Walking among historical figures, seeing celebrities from around the world in the same building, attending a bank robbery from the front row, seeing characters from Star Wars and characters from books or being scared by the worst murderers in history... all of this is possible at the Barcelona Wax Museum.

The museum is located at Passatge de La Banca, a small street that starts at La Rambla Santa Mònica.

The building was built in 1867 to be the headquarters of the company "El Comercio". Later, the offices were occupied by the Bank of Barcelona and Credit and Docks, which is the commercial brand for which the building is still known. The architect, Elies Rogent, designed a neoclassical palace that is classified as a building of historical and artistic interest. In 1973, the architect and set designer Enrique Alarcón converted it into the Barcelona Wax Museum.

The museum is divided into five areas:

Visitors are greeted by an impressive staircase of honor in the style of the nineteenth century.

The Recital Hall with furniture and decoration from 1906, which is the ideal stage for politicians, musicians, and artists found here.

The Crystal Patio is one of the most attractive architectural spaces in the building. It is covered with a glass dome and presided over by an oil painting by Vilumara i Junyent, watching over the historical characters that can be seen in this room.

The Gothic Hall is large and decorated with Catalan neo-Gothic style (loosely inspired by the Tinell Hall). The large stone arch and wooden roof hide a small mystery in the form of a play of mirrors.

The original Armored Chamber of the banking entity was maintained, appropriately adapted for visits, and currently hosts a robbery scene.

The museum also offers a souvenir shop and two themed cafeterias: El Bosc de Les Fades and El Passatge del Temps.
