Plaça Catalunya

Catalonia Square is the most central and largest square in Barcelona. It constitutes the point of union between the old town of the city and the Eixample.

From here depart important roads of the city such as La Rambla, Passeig de Gràcia, Rambla de Catalunya, Rondas de la Universitat and de Sant Pere, and Carrer Pelai, as well as Avinguda del Portal de l'Àngel.

Currently, Catalonia Square is considered the neuralgic center of the city of Barcelona and the km 0 of Catalonia. Here begin and end most of the urban bus lines and a good part of the intercity ones, and it has a metro station (lines L1 and L3), one of Rodalies de Catalunya (lines R1, R3, R4, R12 and RG1), and one of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (lines L6, L7, S1, S2, S5, S6, and S7).

The square is a first-class commercial and service center. Here are located hotels, banks and savings banks, renowned bars and restaurants (such as the recently renovated Zurich), and various shops and shopping centers like El Corte Inglés and El Triangle. There are also the consular offices of Canada.

In the large central space of the square, concerts, citizen celebrations, or events regularly take place.

LA RAMBLA, BARCELONA
